Curriculum Statement

At Carleton Rode and Forncett CEVA Primary Schools we offer a curriculum that is broad and balanced, engaging and exciting, tailored to ensure that all children have the opportunity to achieve their potential and experience success in their time at our school. As exemplified in the 2010 Equalities Act, we plan and adapt learning experiences to ensure that children with physical disabilities can take part in all curriculum areas.

As part of our federation we teach the children Read Write Inc to support their phonics knowledge and to help with reading. As the children progress up the school they experience the Power of Reading, not only to encourage a love of reading, but to also engage them in their writing. These link into memorable and enriched learning experiences to help build the children’s natural curiosity.

We ensure that our children have a firm understanding of mathematical concepts and skills, acquired and reinforced across the wider curriculum.

We ensure, as exemplified in the 2015 SEN Code of Practice, that all children receive an education, appropriate to their needs which enables them to achieve and succeed.

Since the pandemic, we have identified the need for the children to develop their communication skills across the school. We are developing their skills from using single words to building sentences, all the way through to being able to express/articulate opinions with examples. This also includes the ability for the children to communicate their feelings/emotions in a clear and confident manner.
